Kevin Dynes was showcased in the Lightning Bolts’ 3-0 win over the Hurricanes, one of six AYSO games played at the Wailua Houselots Park on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Nicknamed “Big Toe” by his Hurricans’teammates, Dynes launched soccer balls with authority, including a kickoff that missed rolling into the goal mouth by inches.
While playing goalie in the first quarter, Dynes booted one ball close to 50 yards.
Jonah Plemer joined Noah Plemer in spearheading the Lightning Bolts’ offense, effectively keeping the Hurricanes in defense mode with speed and precision passing.
Jonah Plemer, Emanuel Zafirides, and Noah LaMadrid notched goals for the Lightning Bolts.
The Hurricanes, despite the loss, kept the game close with outstanding play from Dynes, Tate Boice, Austin Havens, Spencer Duvauchelle, and Hilo Chock.
Kalaheo “A” Strikers 5, Waimea Westsyde Gurls 1
Jillian Yamase and Kamaile Kapanui shared goalie responsibilities for Waimea, but allowed five Kalaheo “A” scores in their 5-1 loss in the AYSO 12U game played at Kalawai Park.
Macey Parongao scored the sole Waimea goal with outstanding play coming from Elisa and Caralyn Broyles, Hamiha Arquette, Daelene Freitas, Jaime Jacinto, Melissa Kagawa, Irene Kocher, Shayna Malina, and Elisha Nabeshima.
Lightning 3, Tornado Tomboys 1
Alana Fernandez launched a pair of goals as the Lightning nudged the Tornado Tomboys 3-1 at Kalaheo.
Tory Craig had a Lightning goal in the win.
Shelly Tottori, was given the nod for outstanding Lightning assists while Hayley Walchor got recognized for her goalie responsibility.
Holly Kai‘a and Hallie Cristobal had the outstanding assists recognition for the Tornado Tomboys with Kiana Sullivan and Wendy Tokuuke being outstanding in defense.
Mahea Hurd, Kristin, Kaohelaulii, and Angelica Tran shared goalie responsibilities for the Tornado Tomboys.
Kilauea Homedoggies 8, Hanalei 0
Seri Niimi-Burch and Olivia Ruff scored two goals apiece as the Kilauea Homedoggies blanked Hanalei 8-0.
Kodi Barnett, Kalia Boiser-Gomes, Vanessa Martinez, and Kandice Navarro each added goals in the win.
Katelyn Kaona, Summer Baogotti, and Kyla Dill were outstanding for Kilauea with Kaulana Hanneberg, Keila Hanneberg, Megan Perius, and Alana Andrews outstanding for Hanalei.
Wailua Vipers 8, Kapa‘a Warriors 1
Kailon Tyndzik, Keanu Hill, Kai Youn, and Justin Uegawa scored for the Vipers in their 8-1 win over the Kapa‘a Warriors at Kapahi Park.
Dylan Miura, Travis Kim, Jordan Guerrero, Tyler Morris, Keapolani Beamer, and Poalima Deponte were recognized as outstanding Vipers in the win.
Cheetah Girls 1, Girls With Attitude 5
Christin Kaua had a hat trick with three goals, and Jazzerie Taeza added a pair of scores as the Kapa‘a Girls With Attitude got past the Hanalei Cheetah Girls 5-1 in AYSO U10G soccer.
Chloe Frederickson scored the sole Cheetah Girls’ goal with Tanya Gomez, Stephanie Stewart, Danielle Jackson, Vivian Arnett, Kiley Ham Young, Hailey Neil, Zoe Wilson, Tiare Welborn, and Kesia Kawaihalau recognized for their outstanding play.
Chloe Stokes, Taetra Christensen, Alexis Hernandez, Alison Yamamoto, Mia Cabulisan, Gabrielle Ka‘ahea-Simeona, Lauren Spears, and Brandi Yamamoto were outstanding for Kapa‘a.
Eastside Soccer Rockers 0, Kapa‘a Green Xtreme 3
Kaelin-Jae Gusman, Laurie Tamayo, and Jessica Lactaotao each notched goals in the Green Extreme’s 3-0 win over the Eastside Soccer Rockers in AYSO U12G action played at the Kapa‘a Beach Park.
According to reporter Andrea Gray, all players on both teams were outstanding.
The Green Xtreme is coached by Kevin Gusman with James Wilson coaching the Eastside Soccer Rockers.
Funny Bunnies 1, Kapa‘a Evelation 1
Calvin Rux notched a goal for the Evelation and Michael Acoba scored for the Funny Bunnies in their 1-1 tie in AYSO U12B action played at the Kapa‘a Beach Park.
Andrea Gray, who did the game report, noted that all players put in outstanding play.
The Evelation is coached by George Cummings with Ken Morikawa coaching the Funny Bunnies.
