Kaua‘i will have its share of players as more than 700 tennis players take part in the 2003 USA League Tennis presented by Lincoln Hawai‘i Pacific Section Championships that started Friday, August 15 at the Kapalua Resort on Maui.
This year’s events has drawn the top 60 teams from throughout Hawai‘i with Kaua‘i sending five teams to the tournament.
Teams represent various clubs, parks, recreational departments, and organizations and have finished at the top of their local leagues to earn the right to represent the USTA Hawai‘i Pacific Section at the USA League Tennis National Championships.
There are currently more than 500,000 participants in the program presented by Lincoln with players grouped into six different ability levels from beginner (2.5) to advanced (5.0) based on the National Tennis Rating Program.
Play consists of both singles and doubles matches with Lincoln being the presenting sponsor and official car of the USA League Tennis program.
Penn Racquet Sports is in its 16th year as the official ball and The Citizen Watch Company celebrates its eighth year as a USTA Corporate Champion and sponsor of the USA League Tennis program.
