Darrick A. K. Callahan
Darrick A. K. Callahan of Kalaheo, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on August 8, 2003, at the age of 47.
Preceded in death by his father, David W. J. Callahan, he was born on O‘ahu on September 23, 1955. He was a construction worker.
He is survived by Helen K. Callahan of Kalaheo; mother, Jeanne Gladys Callahan of Kalaheo; two brothers, David (Sharon) Callahan of ‘Oma‘o, Darryl (Roxanne) Callahan of Lawa‘i; one god child, Keola Burgess; nephews Forest, Rheif, Daevin and niece Nikela; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 16, at Kauai Christian Fellowship from 2 p.m. where services will begin at 4 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Anastacia Carnate
Anastacia Carnate of Kekaha, died Aug. 9, 2003, at Kapiolani, at the age of 86.
A field worker for Pioneer Corn, she is survived by three sons: Andrew Florendo (Miriam) Carnate; Cirilo (Connie) Carnate, and Gerobin (Bonnie) Carnate; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, Aug. 16, at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha from 10:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Father Larry. Burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Marylou Sherman
Marylou Sherman of Kilauea, died Aug. 10, 2003, at her residence in Kilauea, at the age of 57.
A secretary, she was born June 18, 1946, in Pennsylvania.
She is survived by her husband: Richard Sherman of Kilauea; three daughters: Lauren Sherman of Kilauea, Rebecca Sherman of Indiana, and Lesley Sherman of Pennsylvania; one son: Stephen Sherman of Honolulu and one sister: Ann Stemmy of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service has been scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 17, at Hanalei Cemetery at 2 p.m.
The family asks that flowers be omitted and suggests casual or aloha attire. Donations may be made to Kauai Hospice, P.O. Box 3286, Lihue HI 96766. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.
Rika Hijirida
Rika Hijirida of Lihu‘e, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Aug. 9, 2003 at the age of 103.
Born in Yamaguchi Ken, Japan on Jan. 20, 1900, she was a retired Field Worker with Olokele Sugar Co. she is survived by step-children, Betty (Takeshi) Oshio of Aiea, O‘ahu, Aileen (Jim) Grymes of Kailua, O‘ahu, Sue (Ken) Fukumoto of Koloa, Jack (June) Hijirida of Kona, Hawai‘i and Satoru (Gladys) Hijirida of Kaneohe, O‘ahu; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Vesta Feuling
Vesta Feuling of Wainiha, died at home on Aug. 11, 2003 at the age of 92.
Born in Enterprise, Ore. on Aug. 28, 1910, she is survived by daughter, Tanya Hashimoto; grandchildren, Natasha Gundersen and Jahnavi Briant; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
