Following is an update on yesterday’s helicopter crash from the County of Kaua’i:
Retrieval operations are underway for the bodies of the five victims killed in yesterday’s helicopter crash.
According to fire department official, the rescue crew spotted a sufficient clearing in the cloud cover over the crash site to begin body retrieval.
Three fire department rescue personnel and one pilot are assigned to the mission.
Fire, police and other emergency personnel are stationed at the command center as well as representatives from Kauai Hospice, the helicopter tour company and the Federal Aviation Administration. A representative from the National Transportation Safety Board is expected to be on Kaua’i at about 3 p.m. today.
