Held at the beautiful Hanalei Pier on July 5, Vision Properties, Princeville Corporation, Princeville Hotel, Kai Kane’s, Calvary Chapel North Shore, Rick Hurst Excavation, Ileana Carreno DDS., Ching Young Village, Tiki Tunes, Mayflower Fisheries, Retro Gifts and On Center Construction all participated in the outrigger canoe racing events.
Princeville Corporation and Princeville Hotel came out as the top winners of the day with five crews all doing very well.
The Makule Masters crew came from the East Side to challenge the Hanalei Masters crew and took first place in the Masters division.
The outrigger canoe races took place throughout the day being serenaded by the Tahitian drumming of the Tiki Drummers as well as Tahitian dancers.
A large crowd of kids showed up to compete in the run/swim/paddle relay.
The winners were awarded medals.
For the spectators there were local vendors selling, sarongs, Tahitian black pearls, sunglasses, hats, bathing suits, and locally made jewelry.
A lucky drawing was held every hour throughout the day, giving away jewelry, towels, kites, massages, dinners, grill, sleeping bags, and a paddle.
All of the lucky drawing items were graciously donated by; Kai Kane’s Kauai Kite and Hobby Shop, Kayak Kauai, Postcards, Hanalei Video and Music, Kilauea Farmers Market, Bubba Burgers, On the road to Hanalei, Starvin Marvins, Sushi Blues, Zelos, Bamboo Bamboo, Marta’s Boat, Hanalei Surf Company, Backdoor, Hanalei Health Food, Dr. Ileana Carreno, Hale Lea Family Medicine, Hanalei Massage, Sand People, Neide’s, Dawn Lunquist, Savage Pearls, Ace Island Hardware, Hanalei Colony Resort, and Tahitian Treasures.
The Hanalei Canoe Club holds this annual just-for-fun business mans/woman race every year to help fundraiser for our off island races.
The Hanalei Canoe Club would like to thank all the businesses that came out to race and the businesses that donated for the lucky drawing, you make it possible for us to travel off island for the state races.
We welcome all local businesses to join us next year for the 19th annual Tahiti Fete to paddle outrigger canoes and compete against other businesses.
