A traditional Tahitian Festival or “Heiva” was celebrated over the weekend at Kukui Grove Pavilion, with Kaua‘i hosting dancers from Tahiti and the other Hawaiian islands.

The second annual Heiva I Kaua‘i Ia Orana Tahiti is dedicated to keeping alive the spiritual and cultural link between Tahiti and Hawai‘i.
Beginning Saturday morning, groups competed in ‘Ote‘a, Aparima and ‘Ahupurotu, both amateur and professional.
The festival included crafts, demonstrations and foods, both Tahitian and Hawaiian.
Award ceremonies were held on Sunday, with the winners of the Heiva I Kaua‘i invited to participate in a Heiva (Fete) in Tahiti.
