Four local rodeo competitors qualified for the National High School competition in Farmington, New Mexico which began on Friday.
Alana Brun in goat tying, Randy Brun who is the Rookie of the Year and Hawaii state Dally team roping champ, Marcus Laymon and Kurtis Low in Dally team roping made the trip to represent Kaua‘i.
These four high school students are among the 20 students from Hawaii who qualified for the National rodeo event.
This competition is the largest high school rodeo event in the world.
Over 1,500 of the best cowboys and cowgirls from 39 states, four canadian provinces and Australia will be attending.
These students would like to thank Mayor Bryan Baptiste, the county council and the various sponsors and businesses for their support.
The results from the national event will appear in a future TGI issue.
