The Kaua‘i Fire Department responded Saturday afternoon to a brush fire burning mauka of Kuhio Highway, near the Spalding Monument area of Kealia.
Late Saturday afternoon a helicopter was brought in to help contain the blaze.
Weather conditions across the state have been dry, with drought conditions in some districts.
However, Kaua‘i has experienced a steady flow of daily showers this summer, and the Kealia fire is one of the only major brush fires reported so far this summer season.
