Kaua’i: Special place with special people
Recently, I attended a meeting where I was asked, “What is your vision of an ideal community”? My response was, “I believe that an ideal community is one where people care about each other and show that on a daily basis. I think I’m living in the ideal community”.
Every year, The Arc of Kauai holds a benefit golf tournament in July. It is the one and only fundraiser for the entire year. As the Executive Director, I know how much this fundraiser means to our organization, as well as children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families that depend on our programs and services.
Recently, it came to the attention of our golf tournament committee that the date of our tournament, July 20, 2003, would be the same date that Dickie Chang of Wala’au Productions would be holding his golf tournament.
With barely a week away to both of our respective tournaments, Dickie Chang has graciously decided to move the date of his tournament to July 27, 2003.
On behalf of The Arc of Kauai, we would like to recognize and thank Dickie Chang for his assistance and generosity. It is only with his support and that of our community, can we look forward to a successful event.
Again, I am reminded of what a special place Kaua’i is and how lucky I am to call it home. We send our best wishes to Dickie for his selfless act of kindness and ask for your support of Dickie and his tournament.
