KALAHEO — The Lihue Breakaway won the championship of the boys 14 and under division on Saturday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Lihue defeated the Westside Hornets 36-31 behind 16 points from Nathaniel Beralas. Kyle Achuela poured in 10 points for the Hornets.
In the third place, Wailua beat the Kapaa Warriors 31-23 with Justin Tanicala totaling 10 points for Wailua and Devin Saiki chipping in with 10 points for the Warriors.
In the finals of the girls 14 and under division, the Kauai Fire Raiders edged the Hornets 26-24.
Carie Inouye led the victors with 12 points while Kierra Barba scored 10 points for Westside.
The Waimea Minihunes took the third-place title with a 38-35 win over the Kilauea Hui.
Moani Durant added 17 points for the victorious Minihunes while Kapua Chandler totaled nine for the Hui.
On Friday, Tanisha DeFabian poured in a team-high 10 points in helping the Westside Hornets beat the Lihue Sparks 20-8 in a girls 10 and under game at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Teal Basquez scored four points for the Sparks.
In a boys 17 and under contest, the Westsiders edged out the Southside Boys 60-54.
Dennis Aukai totaled 20 points for the Westsiders while Josh Bradbury and Jeremy Manuel combined for 31 points for the Boys.
In the final game of the evening, the Lihue Kings bested Kilauea 49-39 in a 17 and under boys game.
Kaupili Akau scored 12 points for the Kings while Kahua Hollinger added 11 for Kilauea.
In Kilauea, the Kapaa Big “D” earned a 23-20 win over Kanu in a girls 10 and under game.
Malahia States scored six points for Kapaa while Kanoa Nartate added six points for Kanu.
In the other game, the Magic 1 claimed a 37-9 win over the Magic 2.
Christina Banach poured in 22 points for the victors while Michael Tabata added four for the Magic 2.
