Kauai Riders reschedule event
The 2-man Hare Scramble that was originally set for June 1 was canceled.
It has been rescheduled for Sunday at Anahola.
In contention for overall winners include Eric Anama, Mark Stiglmeier, Doug Carvalho, Billy Carvalho and David Amorin.
We invite any rider who’s up to the challenge of being a “spoiler”. Call David at 635-3903 if any questions.
Club to offer programs
The Mokihana Aquatics swim club will offer summer programs beginning on June 19 at Kauai High School.
The club will have programs for infants up to senior citizens. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call Orlando Anaya at 821-0587.
Paradise Ride begins July 19
The 6th Annual Paradise Ride – Hawaii’s ride to stop AIDS invites cyclists July 19 to July 26 to ride across Oahu, Kauai, Maui and Molokai.
Join Team Kauai now for training and fund raising for this fully supported ride for cyclists of all skill levels.
Kauai’s new route winds through our south and west shores for an overnight in Hanapepe.
At the end of each day The Paradise Ride’s community of caring gathers to share why they have given up a week for HIV/AIDS funding in Hawaii.
Some have lost daughters or grandsons to AIDS and they “bike Hawaii” in their memory. Teens and families “bike Hawaii” to see the islands up close and learn the value of giving. Islands leaders “ride Hawaii” to end the stigma and shame still associated with AIDS and HIV on Kauai.
As you drive Kauai, please remember to “Share the Road” with bicycles on those bridges and narrow roads with no bike lanes or shoulders. Remember that each Paradise Rider out there training is raising over $2500 so that your daughter or uncle may never be exposed to HIV and your neighbor living with AIDS will continue to receive the services that Malama Pono provides with no shame.
To register as a rider for The Paradise Ride, 2003 or to make a pledge to Team Kauai go to: www.ParadiseRideHawaii.org. For riding Kauai only for 2 days or for more information, call Pam or Jessica at Malama Pono 246-9577.
