Mayor Bryan J. Baptiste and Kauai County Councilmember JoAnn A. Yukimura recently attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the Guardian and Park Avenue Securities branch office, in the Yoneji Building on Rice Street in Lihue.
Guardian and Park Avenue Securities is one of only a handful of securities companies on Kauai, according to Tony Cook, the company’s Kauai manager and a longtime island resident.
The company offers life, disability and long-term insurance, and provides investment and financial planning, Cook said.
Cook’s staff includes financial representatives Kellene Mukai, Biruta Eilers, one-time state legislator Phil Tacbian, and Carol Jenks. Candice Samiano serves as an executive assistant at the Kauai office.
Guardian, the parent company of Park Avenue Securities, is based in New York, and opened for business in 1860. Cook said the company wrote the first insurance policy in Hawaii, on Oahu in 1898.
