Junior golf event set for June 19 AYSO Region Registration Kauai club to hold camp

Junior golf event set for June 19

Qualifying for the 2003 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship will be held at Wailua Golf Course on June 19.

It is one of approximately 30 18-hole qualifiers for the Girls’ Junior Championship that will be played from July 21-26 at Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield, Conn.

Entries for the 2003 U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship must be received by the United States Golf Association by June 4.

The cost is $20 to enter. The championship is for female amateurs age 17 and under.

To obtain an entry application, call the USGA at (908) 234-2300 or download the entry blank from the USGA Web site at www.usga.org.

Entrants must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4. Entrants may select one of approximately 30 qualifying sites.

Eighteen-hole qualifiers will be held nationwide from June 16 through July 1, with spots awarded at each site to fill the championship field of 156 players.

The championship format will be two rounds of stroke play, with the low 64 scorers advancing to single-elimination match play.

AYSO Region Registration

The AYSO Region 940 West Kauai Soccer Registration will be held from 9-1 p.m. on June 14, at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.

Copy of birth certificate if required. Volunteers are needed as are coaches, referees, town manager assistants, team parents, registration assistants, etc.

Kauai club to hold camp

The Kauai Coconut Beach Resort Tennis Club will hold its summer Jr. Tennis and Swim Camp.

There are three sessions available. The first session is June 9 through June 27 while the second session is July 7 and runs until July 25.

The final session is August 4 through August 22. Camp days will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Anyone interested can call 822-6670.
