Daniel Hadir Cortez of Lihue; died May 19, 2003, at the age of 92.
A retired foreman for a sugar plantation, he wsa born July 10, 1910, in the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife: Flora Cortez of Lihue; sons: Davis (Carolyn) Cortez, Sr., Richard Cortez, Sr., Patrick (Judy) Cortez, Clifford (Claire) Cortez, Dennis (Audrey) Cortez; and daughters: Juliana Lim Cortez, Philomena Cortez, Norma Cortez, Peggy (Craig) Salba-Honnet, Debra (Jason) Leikvoll, and Florenda Cortez; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary on Monday, June 2, with service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kauai Mortuary.

The memorial service for William Drake “Tunney” Smith, Sr. set for Friday, May 30, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City, has been cancelled. A private memorial service will be held at a later date and place, not to be announced.
