William Drake “Tunney” Smith, Sr., of Wilmington, North Carolina, formerly of Lihue, died May 15 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, at the age of 77.
A veteran of the US Army. He received 2 purple hearts, 3 bronze stars, Korean service medal, United Nations service medal, combat infantry badge and good conduct medal. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Smith was retired from the Casino Gaming Business in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is survived by one son, Will Smith of Wilmington, North Carolina; one daughter, Paula Ann Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Starr Nichole Smith and Travis Smith of Reno, Nevada; Kyle Drake Smith of Wilmington, North Carolina; and Jonathon William Delerenzo of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Friends may visit with the family on May 30, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder, Nevada at 2 p.m. Arrangements by Cape Fear Crematory.
