Trisha Ramos joined Stacey Porter as the pair of University of Hawaii players were named to the NCAA Region 3 All-Tournament Team following the title game between Southwest Texas State and Texas.
Ramos batted .125 in five games with two RIB, one of which propelled UH past number two seed Northwestern in the 11th inning. Ramos was selected because of her dynamic defense displayed during the regional, fielding .952, converting on 20-of-21 total chances.
Porter batted .615 in five games with four doubles, four runs, and four RBI. She also stole 2-of-2 bases, had a .923 slugging, and .703 on-base percentages, with four walks.
Hawaii finished the regional with a record of 3-2, losing to Southwest Texas State, 2-1 in the semifinal game. On the year, UH posted a 40-20 mark, including a 17-3 record in the Western Athletic Conference play, picking up the program’s first WAC title.
Head coach Bob Coolen completed his 12th season at the helm of UH, and owns a 456-278-1 mark with an overall record of 528-371-1 in 17 years.
Other members of the Region 3 All-Tournament team include Kara Brun (SS-Arizona State), Lindsay Gardner (2B-Texas), Nicole Neuerburg (P-Southwest Texas State), Tamara Poppe (LF-Texas), Stacey Porter (1B-Hawaii), Trisha Ramos (3B-Hawaii), Desiree Serrano (P-Arizona State), Blair Smith (ss-LSU), Hannah Snow (1B-Southwest Texas State), Ryan Stukel (C-Southwest Texas State), Wynter Turner (3B-Texas), Cat Osterman (P-Texas) – Most Outstanding Player.
The selections were voted on by media, NCAA representatives, and select staff.
