Joe Licona of Pacific Basin Inflatables is making a 20-foot rigid hull Zodiac available to the Coast Guard for use in training, regattas, and towing.
The craft is self-righting and rated for all-weather service including being operable even when completely submerged. It also features a 4-point hitch system which makes it helicopterable and is the same type used by the cruise ships as well as Canadian, French, and Artic services for rescue operations.
The craft was on display during the 2-day boating expo kicking off the North American Safe Boating Week program which runs from May 17-23. The U.S.Coast Guard Auxiliary will also be on hand this Saturday at the boat ramp at Kaumualii Park on the Wailua River to help with boat inspections as well as explain the new decal system for boaters. That program starts at 9 a.m.
