Members of the Kauai Community College faculty and about 140 of the 200-plus students receiving their degrees marched onto the stage of the college’s Performing Arts Center for their commencement program held Friday evening.
In addition to two-year associate degrees, the commencement ceremonies featured the presentation of degrees Bachelor of Arts in Business, Teaching and Special Education, and Masters in Business candidates.
The graduation program filled the performing center and an overflow audience by being televised was accomodated through a live television feed set up in the campus dining facility.
Mary Alexander was honored with the Excellence in Teaching Award by University of Hawaii Regent Charles Kawakami. Science instructor Bryan Yamamoto received the Frances Davis Award for his teaching excellence, and Dennis Esaki of Esaki Surveying was honored with the Community Partner in Education award.
