Bernard and Sandra Makuaole of Kekaha recently returned from Oxnard, Calif. where they visited their son Hele Boy and their new triplet grandchildren.
The triplets were born on Nov. 30. They are: grandsons Bernard Kanahele III, 2 lbs 3 oz and Mason Kekua, 2 lbs 10 oz, and granddaughter McKenzie 2lbs 9 oz. All three went home in February following intensive hospital care.
By April they weighed in at 8 to 9 pounds each and were in a different “ER,” this time on a Warner Bros. Studio set for the TV show “ER” in Burbank, Calif.
Bernard Sr. and Sandra accompanied “Mommy” Jill Makuaole and the triplets to the set for three days of filming.
Infants Bernard and brother Mason play the same “Mia’s Baby” during the 200th Episode of “ER.” The episode is scheduled to run Thursday. Watch for Bernard in an examining room scene and Mason, wrapped in a blanket, is presented to his mother Mia in her room.
Sister McKenzie had her moment of fame stolen by lack of shooting time the last day on the set.
Babies are limited to two hours of studio time and no more than twenty minutes on the set, the Makuaoles report. Actual filming time has to fit into that 20-minute period.
“The babies are all over the 10 pound maximum weight limit now so they won’t be playing newborns anymore,” Sandra Makuaole said, ” but hopefully they are not at the end of their careers.”
