Hiroshi Hino
Hiroshi Hino of Honolulu, formerly of Kaua’i, died at Tripler Center of Aging on Mar. 30, 2003, at the age of 69.
Born on Kaua’i on Sept. 28, 1933, he was retired from the U.S. Army as a Sgt. First Class. He was a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran.
He is survived by his son, Kevin Hino; five daughters, Gayl Hino, Jean Kuboyama, Darlene Makabe, Shereen Hino, Laureen Hino; two brothers, Charles Hino and Yoshio Hino; three sisters, Kay Cooney, Clara Kamiyama, Michiko Cosma; 7 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson.
Private services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary.
Clara Akuna
Clara Akuna of Hanapepe, died at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home on April 9, 2003, at the age of 87.
Born in Waimea, on Dec. 13, 1915, she was a tour guide.
She is survived by three sons, Edward (Pat) Taniguchi, Nicholas (Nancy) Taniguchi, Gordon Akuna; two daughters, Ermine (Abraham) Kailikini, Beverly Kahaleoume Dickson; three hanai children, Stephanie Iwai, Audrey Akuna, Ermine Akuna; brother, Anthony Dido (Gertrude) Taniguchi; sister, Elmira Apo, 44 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 14, at Borthwick Kauai Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
