KALAHEO — Three games wrapped up the county’s boys 14 under basketball season on the courts of the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center on Thursday night.

This was due to many members of the Waimea B team attending memorial services for one of their school mates and friend. The Waimea B squad forfeits tits season’s final game to the Kalaheo Pistons, but officials allowed a scrimmage game once arrangements for “shared” players could be worked out.
Lihu’e Breakaway 39, Kapa’a 22 – Bradley Semana came up with 11 points to pace the Breakaway to a 39-22 win over Kapa’a, despite Kapa’a outscoring Lihu’e through most of the first half.
Ira Nishi pulled the Breakaway to a 15-15 halftime stalemate on his first field goal with just 45 ticks remaining in the half.
Nishi ended the night with eight points along with Brendan Young whose offensive stance was matched with defensive hustle.
Basil Walton rounded out the Breakaway leaders with a 7-point outing.
Chaz Galvez fired 10 points to lead Kapa’a before fouling out of the contest with Dean Lam Yuen aiding the effort with five points.
Kapa’a guard David Kiefer burned a lot of rubber on both sides of the court, impressing the spectators with his prowess, but was held scoreless in the outing.
Lihu’e Hoops 40, Lihu’e Sixers 39 – Kainani Balle fired nine of his game-total 13 points in the sixth period to lift the Hoops to a 40-39 win over the Sixers.
Outgunning the Sixers 17-8 in the final stanza, Langeras Garcia put the coup de grace on the win with a field goal at the six-second mark, lifting the Hoops beyond the reach of the Sixers. The Sixers answered with a pass play from Jordan Cox to Treston Rego to Arie Causino that came up empty on a 3-point attempt at the buzzer.
Cox gunned a trey and a field goal to lead the Sixers to an 11-0 third period that gave them a 19-14 halftime bulge, an edge they enjoyed until falling 17-8 in the sixth stanza.
Following Balle, Garcia aided the Hoops’ effort with 11 points in the night with Lucky Andres adding eight, and Teddy Sagucio and CJ Riopta chipping in four markers each.
Cox, firing three from 3-pointland, ended the night with a game-high 15 points to lead the Sixers with Rego contributing eight points.
Travis Kawehe had a trey in his five-point offering with Stanley Furtado notching four points.
Causino finished with three with Kainoa Lemke and Travis Stine each chipping in a pair.
