Families, parents, teachers, homeowners, neighbors, workers, businesspeople and everyone else in the community is invited to a drug awareness meeting at the Hanalei School cafeteria starting at 6:30 p.m.
North Shore residents are not the only ones invited, stressed one of the meeting coordinators.
The meeting is being sponsored by a group of concerned Kaua’i citizens who want to bring awareness of the problems that drugs and drug use create in our community. The group has invited professionals in law enforcement, drug treatment, family counseling, and drug prevention to share the details of their jobs and what people can do to help.
Those scheduled to speak include officers from the Kaua’i Police Department’s Vice Narcotics Unit; Kaua’i Drug-Free Coalition; and Hina Mauka Recovery Center.
A second meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25 at Kilauea School, starting at 6:30 p.m.
