Ruriko Karimoto, died on Feb. 5, 2003, at the age of 88.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 4 p.m. at the Lihu’e Hongwanji Mission in Kapaia.
William Ching
William “Willy” Ioela Ching of Kapa’a, died at home on Feb. 6, 2003 at the age of 58.
Born in Lihu’e, on Oct. 21, 1944, he was an assistant power plant operator with AMFAC Sugar-Lihue Plantation, and worked as a shuttle driver at Sheraton Princeville Hotel.
He is survived by his wife, Doriann Garan Ching; son, Wesley Dale Ching of Honolulu, O’ahu; two daughters, Myra Lee Ching-Remitio of Lihu’e, and Dana Ching of Kapa’a; mother, Ruth Aki Ching; two brothers, Francis K.W. Ching of Honolulu, O’ahu and Thomas Ching of Wailua Homesteads; two sisters, Rowena Low of Honolulu, O’ahu and Sheilah Ching of Po’ipu; mother-in-law: Amelia Poli of Honolulu, O’ahu; three sisters-in-law: Shirley (Bert) Crowder, Josephine Koga, Bette Lee Poli, all of Honolulu, O’ahu; four brothers-in-law: Herman Garan, Gaylen (Sally) Garan, both of Honolulu, Oahu; Baron Garan of San Diego, Calif.; Elmer Garan of Sacramento, Calif.; predeceased by brother-in-law: Benedict “Benny” (Ok-hui) Garan of Honolulu; 6 grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, at the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa’a; Mass officiated by Father Vince will begin at 11 a.m. Followed by burial at the Church cemetery. Aloha attire is suggested.
Richard Kitamura
Richard Kazuto Kitamura of Lihu’e, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 2, 2003 at the age of 81.
Born in Waialua, O’ahu on Mar. 13, 1921, he was a retired cook with Kauai Surf.
He is survived by nephew, Alvin Y. Kitamura of O’ahu; two nieces, Arlene S. Takai of Maui and Gail S. Walker of O’ahu; sister-in-law Miyoko Y. Kitamura of O’ahu. Services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Anselm Liu Sr.
Anselm Liu Sr. of Kalaheo died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Feb. 8, 2003, at the age of 89.
Born in Honolulu, O’ahu on April 24, 1913, he was a retired public official with the County of Kauai.
Preceded in death by son, Anselm Liu Jr. he is survived by wife, Doris; three daughters, Shirley (Tom) Hodgson of Washington, Lily (Wil) Rivera of O’ahu and Aileen (Donald) Vest of Kansas; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Ellsworth (Dorothy) Liu of Texas; sister, Eunice (Johna) Kumalai of O’ahu; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church; service officiated by Father Keahi will begin at 10 a.m. Aloha attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.

Alice Nelson
Alice Nelson of Kapa’a, died Feb. 10, 2003, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 83.
A sales manager, she was born March 5, 1919, in Indiana.
She is survived by one daughter: Jane (Leland) Stone of Kapa’a; two grandchildren: Michael (Rosalind) May of Kekaha and Karen May of Kapa’a; and one great grandchild: Malia May of Kekaha.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Kapa’a First Hawaiian Church for a memorial service at 4 p.m. The family suggests casual attire. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alice Nelson’s memory to Kapa’a First Hawaiian Church, P.O. Box 555, Kapa’a, HI.
Anacleta Lazo
Anacleta Domingo Lazo of Honolulu, died Feb. 5, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Honolulu at the age of 89.
Born in San Nicolas Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
She is survived by her husband, Lorenzo; sons, Felix (Nenita) Lazo, Rodrigo (Luz) Lazo, Julio (Rose), Lazo and Danilo (Pinky) Lazo; daughter, Josefa (Roger) Alejo; 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, Feb. 13, at St. Theresa Co-Cathedral Church; mass 7 p.m. Internment at San Nicolas Ilocos Norte, Philippines at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Moanalua Mortuary.
Vicente Agustinez
Vicente Agustinez of Puhi, died Jan. 30, 2003, at his residence at the age of 81.
Born in the Philippines on Jan. 5, 1922, he was a gardener for Robinson.
He is survived by his wife: Eliza A. Agustinez of Puhi; two brothers: Ernesto Agustinez of Hanapepe, Antonio (Marieta) Agustinez of Hanapepe; one sister: Francisca Pasion of Hanapepe; one sister-in-law: Marina Corpuz of Makaweli, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 15, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. where mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Keahi. Burial to follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens in Lihu’e. Casual attire is suggested.
