Eleven Kaua’i High School Academy of Travel and Tourism students participating in the National Groundhog Job Shadow program at the Kaua’i Marriott Friday morning were given an unexpected treat when they got to participate in an impromptu greeting for nine visiting National Football League players.
The NFL pros came to Kaua’i to host a clinic for about 250 students held at Vidinha Stadium in Lihu’e Friday afternoon.
The players are in Hawai’i to play Sunday in the Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium on O’ahu. Waimea athletes Josh Vinzant and Jordon Dizon got their special T-shirts autographed by Arizona Cardinal Mike Gruttadauria at the NFL camp. Jason Elam, former University of Hawai’i standout place kicker is now an all-star kicker for the Denver Broncos.
Other visiting NFL players included Ma’ake Kemoeatu of the Baltimore Ravens, Marcus Price of the Buffalo Bills, Shawn Wooden of the Miami Dolphins, Henri Crockett of the Minnesota Vikings, Zack Crockett of the Oakland Raiders, Fred NcCrary and Ryan McNeil of the San Diego Chargers.
