Identified possible alternatives in the search for relief from traffic congestion along Kuhio Highway from Hanama’ulu to Kapa’a will be discussed at a public meeting Monday, Jan. 27, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Kapaa Middle School cafeteria.
The Kapa’a Relief Route project of consultant Kimura International comes with its own multi-color stationery, and Monday’s meeting will serve for company representatives to present the “long list” of alternative routes evaluated, pros and cons of each, consultant findings, and preliminary recommendations.
Also to be covered are potential alternative roadway crossings of the Wailua River, and options for highway connector roads.
Those wishing special accommodations, such as large-print materials or sign-language interpreters, should contact the state Department of Transportation Highways Division Kaua’i office, 274-3111, by this Friday, Jan. 24.
Kimura International, of O’ahu, has set up a toll-free line to accept input on the project: 1-888-898-8886.
The meeting is sponsored by the DOT and Federal Highway Administration, and refreshments will be served.
