Allen “Moose” Lopez, formerly of Kealia, Kaua’i, died in Santa Rosa, Calif. on Jan. 10, 2003, at the age of 51.
Allen worked with Tanaka Plumbing and later became a self-employed plumber. He is survived by his parents, Helena (Contrado) Dabin Acierto, Frederico (Chris) Lopez, daughter Elizabeth “Kapeka” Lopez, son Kailani Lopez, stepdaughter Maya Sullivan, five brothers: Ali (Nadine) Birtodaso, Garrick Lopez, Ronald (Jeanette) Lopez, Joe (Lihue) Lopez, Edmund “Eddie” Acierto; four sisters: Kathlyn Christian; Martha (Dennis) Kaminski, Dolores (Bill) Barry, Lopez of Seattle, Wash., Melissa (Joe) Caranno, Esther (Raynard) Machado, Bernadette (Shilo) Pa; stepbrothers: Timmy Laranio (Anna), Wayne Laranio (Leilani); stepsisters: April Rellin, Martha (Dennis) Kaminski, Delores (Bill) Barry, Annie Rellin, Sheila (Ralph) Schmarge, Carmela Cabacungan, and Novella Laranio. He is survived by 29 nieces and nephews, 14 grand nephews and nieces, and one great grand nephew.
Family and friends may gather for a Celebration of Life scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 25, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kealia Beach with reception to follow. For information, contact Ali Birtodaso at 335-5397 or Bernie Pa at 822-7105.
Harry Soares
Harry Soares of Kalaheo, died at his residence on Jan. 16, 2003, at the age of 77. A heavy equipment operator for the County of Kaua’i, he was born on July 1, 1925.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Helen C. Soares and son: Harry “Bully” Soares, Jr.
He is survived by daughters: Stephanie Silva of Kalaheo and Brenda (Ernest) Silva, Jr. of Kalaheo, son: Wayne (Renee) Soares of Honolulu and daughter-in-law: Iwalani Kanoho Soares of Lihu’e.
Also surviving are brothers: Joseph Soares of Kalaheo and Manuel Soares of Honolulu, and sisters-in-law: Josie Ching of Honolulu, Nancy Soares of Kalaheo and Tove Soares. There are 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Holy Cross Church from 9:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. where memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. by Fr. Keahi. Inurnment will follow at Kaua’i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
