Dorothy Ibia Barretto
Dorothy Ibia Barretto, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 7, 2003 at the age of 71.
Born March 2, 1931, in Kealia, Kauai, to Julian and Henrietta (Kapuniai) Ibia, she attended Kapaa School. She was employed at Hawaii Fruit Packers for 26 years and later retired as a Sales Associate from the Happy Kauaian.
She was known for a “clean home,” terrific cooking, and a welcoming spirit to share her home with all.
She is survived by her beloved husband and friend of 55 years, Gilbert Barretto, Sr.; seven children: Joyce (Rick) Hernandez of Waipahu, Gilbert “Bully” (Lisa) Barretto, Jr. of Kapaa, Glenn (Linda) Barretto of Waipahu, Valerie Barretto-Oshita (Marvin Oshita) of Kapaa, Debbie Barretto-Haraguchi (Lloyd Haraguchi) of Hanalei, Patrick (Jennifer) Barretto of Kapaa and Brian (Shari) Barretto of Kapaa; 30 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Julian (Gloria) Ibia of Puhi and Raymond (Eleanor) Ibia of San Jose, Calif., sisters Mildred (Sergio) Asuncion of Hanamaulu and Irene (Marcial) Patigayon of Honolulu.
She is preceded in death by her great-grandson Kaya Sugahara, and her brother, Henry “Sonny” (Pauline) Ibia, Sr. of Lihue.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Jan. 17, 9 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Kapaa; service officiated by Father Bruce will begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial at the Kealia cemetery. Aloha attire is suggested.

Robert Lawrence of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., died at home on Kauai, on Jan. 8, 2003, at the age of 60.
Born in Wisconsin on Sept. 18, 1942, he was the president for Middle East Africa and Pakistan Lockheed Martin Corp. He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Florida; two sons, Mike Lawrence of Wisconsin; Brad (Honie) Lawrence of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; brother Brad (Tosh) Lawrence of Arizona; two sisters, Kathy (Jack) Curtis of Wisconsin: Kris (Don) Jensen of Wisconsin; Kris (Don) Jensen of Wisconsin.
Friends may visit with the family at 2;30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, at All Saints Church in Kapaa; service officiated by Liz Beasley will begin at 3 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
