Mayor-elect Bryan Baptiste officially becomes Mayor of Kaua’i County at 1 p.m. today.
The inauguration ceremony is being held at the Kaua’i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu’e.
Prior to the inauguration of the new mayor the new Kaua’i County Council will be sworn in at noon, also at the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall.
The public is invited to attend both events.
The new County Council is made up of incumbant councilmembers Kaipo Asing, Jimmy Tokioka and Daryl Kaneshiro. Former Kaua’i mayor and councilwoman JoAnn Yukimura is returning to the council along with former councilman Joe Munechika. First-time councilmembers-elect are Jay Furfaro and Mel Rapozo.
Asing has been selected as council chair and Tokioka will serve as vice-chair of the council.
