State Rep. Bertha Kawakami (D, west Kaua’i, Ni’ihau) remains vice chair of the House Committee on Finance, and has been appointed a majority whip by the state House of Representatives’ Democratic majority.
A whip keeps track of various legislation moving through the House, and each outer-island county has one majority whip position, Kawakami said.
In addition, Kawakami is a member of the Committee on Human Services & Housing.
State Rep. Ezra Kanoho (D, east and south Kaua’i) chairs the Committee on Water, Land Use & Hawaiian Affairs, and says the combined committee will tackle lots of tough issues come mid-January.
Kanoho is a member of the committees on Consumer Protection & Commerce; Energy & Environmental Protection; and Judiciary.
State Rep. Mina Morita (D, north and east Kaua’i) again chairs the Committee on Energy & Environmental Protection, and sits on the committees on Education; Higher Education; and Water, Land Use & Hawaiian Affairs.
