WAIMEA – In what has become a yearly westside tradition, the Waimea Menehune will host the 2002 Thanksgiving Tournament Thursday at the Waimea Canyon Ball Park.
The tournament will run from Thursday through Saturday, with the championship game taking place at 2 p.m. on the last day and the third place game two hours before at noon.
Featured in this year’s tournament are a slew of solid programs, including all three Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation (KIF) teams, Waiakea, Castle, Iolani, Maui, Sacred Heart, Kaimuki, Waianae, Baldwin, Pearl City and Moanalua.
The first game on Thursday is between Waimea and Waiakea at 10 a.m. Games for Friday and Saturday will begin at 9 a.m.
The format will be Pool Play (each team plays at least four games in Pool Play). Teams with the highest points will represent their pool in a single elimination playoff for the tournament championship.
There will be a Thanksgiving dinner Thursday evening and a Fellowship Banquet Saturday night for the teams.
