The Kauai Medical Clinic’s Dr. Jeffrey Goodman is presenting a talk and slide show on his recent medical mission work in Afghanistan.
Goodman help set up rural medical clinics in the war-torn nation. He will share his photo collection, stories and reflections of Afghanistan and its surprisingly resilient people on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Wilcox Memorial Conference Rooms B&C. To reserve a seat please call 245-1005
Goodman is a family practice physician at Kauai Medical Clinic’s North Shore office in Kilauea. He visited Afghanistan in 1987 and 1991 prior to this year’s visit. Working with the International Medical Corps, he was responsible for setting up rural medical clinics within Afghanistan. His months in Afghanistan were challenging, and yet, as Goodman states, he “needed to be there.”
Goodman was recently recognized for his community and international service by Rotary District Governor, Bob Pennington, who presented the Kilauea physician with a “Humanitarian Award,” as well as an honorary membership in the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay.
