Poipu Junior Senior Vet Championship

POIPU – The Poipu Junior Senior Vet Championship Tournament was held last weekend at the Poipu Kai and Kiahuna Tennis Courts in Koloa.

Participants included Hawaii residents from the Big Island and Oahu as well as mainland visitors and residents from Kaua’i.

The tourney accommodated 62 singles entries and 98 doubles entries and scheduled over 80 matches.

Kauaians Matha Okamoto and Tammie Quinlan were involved in an electric showdown in the Women’s 40 Singles. Okamoto defeated Quinlan in a 3 hour, 3 set match 6-7, 7-5, 7-5. Outstanding competitors Myra Kim of Oahu and Sinclair Bill of Kaua’i won the Women’s 40 and 50 doubles. Kim also partnered with Marilyn Char of Kaua’i to win the Women’s 45 doubles and Bill took top honors in the Women’s 60 singles.
