MANA – The final drag racing of the Garden Island Racing Association season will takes place today and tonight at the Kaua’i Raceway Park in Mana.
The racer’s gate opens at noon, time trials begin at 1 p.m., and competition begins at 6 p.m.
Jim Rosa, Riley Takayama and Matt Pancho have the lead heading into this Saturday’s NHRA championship drag races, and they’d like to keep it that way.
Today’s races will determine the season points winners in all classes.
Rosa leads the Pro ET over Wayne Costa with 615 points. Costa currently has 395 points.
In Super Street ET, Riley Takayama is ahead with 645 points over Jay R Smith, who has 545 points.
And in Street ET, Matt Pancho has 695 points, which is a slight advantage over Bill Winningham’s 655 points.
Tonight’s racing will feature three 200 mph Top Gun Dragsters and more than a dozen 150 mph Pro ET race cars. Saturday’s event will include racing open to all street legal cars and licensed drivers in Street ET and King Auto Center Super Street ET with speeds up to 120 mph.
