The second annual Kauai Policeman’s Ball is set for Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Kauai Marriott Resort Ballroom.
The event honors exemplary police officers and helps to raise funds to support their work protecting Kaua’i.
“This is a great way to show our appreciation to the officers who protect our families and loved ones,” said Greg Smith, organizer of the event.
The event runs from 6-10 p.m. and attire is semi-formal.
The Kauai Policeman’s Ball honors the KPD’s officers of the month and officer of the year. The ball aims at creating a bond between the community and the police force.
Two “Citizens of the Year” are being recognized at the event: Mel Ventura and Larry Bowman. Ventura helped develop and design the new police station on his own time over a five-year period, and Bowman donated $100,000 for the new workout facility for the police department that will located in the new police station.
Guests at the event get to join sit down with KPD officers for dinner.
Entertainment is being provided by Larry Rivera, Daryl Gonsales and the Kapaa Bay Boys. Table rounds of ten are available to companies and individuals for $500. Individual tickets are $100 each.
All funds raised go into a special KPD Endowment Fund. “Once the fund reaches $10 million, five percent, or $500,000, will be used annually to buy the latest technology, equipment and training for our Kaua’i officers,” said Smith.
Contributions are tax deductible.
