Cheree Vasconcelles gets Grand Champion Buckle

WAIMEA – Marshal Aviguetero, Rodeo Coordinator for the Waimea Cowboy Roundup, presented the Grand Champion Buckle to Cheree Vasconcelles at a recent ceremony held at Waimea Plantation Cottages.

In addition to the buckle, Cheree’s name will be added to list of champions on the perpetual plaque on display in the Historic Waimea Theater.

Cheree was the overall high point winner at the semi-annual rodeo, sponsored by the West Kauai Business and Professional Association on July 19. Events included barrel race, figure eights, flag race, ribbon race, polebending, dummy roping and others.
