The Lihu’e man who was transported to the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu following a fight last Sunday morning at Ahukini Pier remains in critical condition after three days of hospitalization.
Russell Matsuyama, Jr., 21, was first treated at the Wilcox Memorial Hospital emergency room Sunday, Aug. 26 just after 3 a.m. and was medivaced to Queen’s for further treatment.
Justin Stiles, 20, of Kapa’a, was arrested at 4:21 a.m. Sunday in Lihu’e and charged with one count of first-degree assault in the incident. Bail for Stiles was set at $10,000 and posted.
Reports stated the two men had a verbal exchange sometime during Saturday evening, but shook hands and parted ways. They reportedly later met at Ahukini Pier, at approximately 3 a.m., when a fight broke out.
