‘THE BIGGEST’ (and perhaps the best) is how many participants and volunteers at the 9th Annual Richard Kawakami Memorial Golf Tournament described the event that teed off Friday morning at the Kaua’i Lagoons golf course. In its 9 years, the tournament has grown to include participants from major corporations and agencies. Proceeds from this year’s tournament went to Kaua’i Hospice getting $10,000, the Kaua’i Junior Golf Association, Special Olympics, and DARE programs each receiving $4,000, and Hale Opio being awarded $2,000. Big Save officials estimate that over $200,000 has been raised to benefit Kaua’i organizations since the tourney’s inception.
