OAHU – Two of Kauai’s high school cheer squads traveled to Oahu last weekend to attend a three day Cheer camp hosted by Universal Cheerleaders Association. The camp was held at the University of Hawaii Manoa. Also in attendance were
OAHU – Two of Kauai’s high school cheer squads traveled to Oahu last weekend to attend a three day Cheer camp hosted by Universal Cheerleaders Association.
The camp was held at the University of Hawaii Manoa. Also in attendance were 15 other squads from various schools around the state.
Each squad captured various awards during this camp.
For overall performance at camp, both squads achieved the Superior Squad award, entitling them to perform at the 2003 Pro Bowl.
In the individual All Star competition, Kaua’i High’s Kathleen Constantino qualified to attend the Houston Texas Winter Parade, Kapa’a’s Kristy Kubota and Kaua’i High’s Holly Shimazu qualified to attend the London England parade.
Kapa’a was also awarded 1st place for their home pom routine, and was also honored in the Traditions category.
UCA also held a Regional Cheer competition where the winner would receive an automatic bid to the National High School Competition to be held in Feb. 2003.
Kapa’a, being the only squad entered in the Cheer Large Varsity Division, was awarded the 1st place title and a bid to Nationals in Florida.
