Goodfellow Brothers will be completing their striping work along Rice Street next week, and the road should be completely accessible by next Friday.
By Monday, lanes on the Museum side of Rice Street will be striped.
Tuesday and Wednesday, July 16-17, striping will continue on the Post Office side of Rice Street, starting at Haleko Street and continuing to Ho’olako Street.
On Thursday and Friday, July 18-19, Goodfellow Brothers will paint directional arrows and crosswalks.
Two-directional traffic will be accommodated at all times, but the contractor is requesting that drivers exercise extreme caution on Rice Street during this process to ensure the safety of workers.
Rice Street is scheduled to be fully reopened to traffic by the end of the day on July 19.
“There are still some punch list items to be addressed. However, in the near future we will be planning a blessing and dedication to mark the completion of this project,” stated Public Information Officer Beth Tokioka.
Mayor Maryanne Kusaka expressed her gratitude to all Rice Street merchants and homeowners.
“They’ve been incredibly patient and accommodating, and we hope they will join us, along with anyone else who would like to take part, at the blessing,” Kusaka stated.
More details regarding the blessing and dedication will be provided as they become available.
