The Port Allen Fishing Club recently held its Fourth Annual Fishing Derby at Port Allen Harbor on July 6.
Team Captain Francis Decosta came up big in the Derby, placing first and second in the Ahi category aboard the Boat Wahine Kepaloa, captained by Keala Lanning.
Placing third for the was Jon Kakuba aboard the Jeannie K.
In the Mahi-Mahi category, first place went to Mike Medeiros aboard the Goin-off II; second place went to Harry Shigikawe aboard the Happy Hunter and third place went to Brent Olson aboard the Cecil “G.”
In the Ono category, Darick Akita took first aboard the Jamie Lee. Akita also took all three categories in the Aku Division. Second place was Phil Kelekoma aboard the Yellow Rose II; and third place was Jerrie Louis aboard the Kuuipo Kai.
A Luau was held later that evening and enjoyed by all anglers and participants. Many thanks to the businesses who donated prizes and to all the ground crew who worked hard all day.
