Recently, Firestone’s school was given the honor to host a Jiu-Jitsu Seminar at Universal Karate of Kauai dojo on Rice Street by the internationally-known Royler Gracie. Bruno Ewald, a personal friend of Sensei Firestone, got in touch with the dojo, looking for a location for the seminar and Firestone offered the dojo at no charge. Mr. Gracie and Mr. Ewald also were the celebrities at the recent Kauai Open Martial Arts Tournament in Kilauea this past Saturday.
The turnout at the Kauai Open Martial Arts Tournament once again proved that students of Universal Kauai of Kauai train hard and continue to be victorious. There were approximately 70 trophies, with UKK participants bringing home 33 of them. Amongst the winners were Grand Champion winners: Kapili Akana, Grayson Boyer.
The dojo is the home of approximately 150 students ranging from age 4 thru Senior Citizens. It has become known as not just a fighting school, but a “family martial arts center” as well. Families workout together in forms, self-defense, point fighting and the art is used to help people in self-control, boosting their confidence, dealing with every day stress and to keep a better focus and paying closer attention in class and work. The classes also bring a person to a different level in their personal growth and tolerance.
Firestone will be offering FREE classes every Tuesday evening at 4:00 p.m. for children 7-13 years of age and every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. for adults.
