Six of Kauai’s top golfers have been notified that they have been selected to participate in the 2002 Hawaii All-Star Invitational Tournament. Four boys and two girls are selected from each island – Kauai, Maui, Hawaii, with Oahu having two teams representing both OIA and ILH.
The Kauai team is made up of seniors Juston Thomas and Eric Wong, junior Lehua Wise, sophomores Allan Baab and Kiilani Matsuyoshi, and freshman Bret Netzer.
This tournament was founded in 2000 by Casey Nakama who heads the Olomana junior golf development program. His vision was to feature Hawaii’s top high school golfers in a tournament of their own. The selection of the participate is based on the KIF average score.
The 2-day, 36-hole tournament is based on a Ryder Cup format. Players, along with Coach Deron Doi will be heading to Oahu on May 25th for a pre-tournament practice round with actual play on May 26 & 27 at the Olomana Golf Links.
