Fishermen! It’s time to hit the beaches again for the Easter Seals “Silver Anniversary Fishing Tournament.” The Gas Company and Kauai Electric are once again sponsoring the Shoreline Fishing Tournament, which begins on Friday, May 17, at 5 p.m. and ends on Sunday, May 19 at 10 a.m. The weigh-in will be held at the Lihue Neighborhood Center from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Tickets are now available for a $25 donation at Waipouli Variety, Lihue Fishing Supply, Kauai Rainbow Paint Supply, The Gas Company, and The Easter Seals Office. A special Children’s Category is being sponsored by the Rice Shopping Center for a $10 donation. Tickets will only be available until the official start of the tournament, so get your tickets now. Each ticket entitles the holder to entry into the tournament and lunch on the day of the weigh-in.
Don’t miss a chance to win one of the prizes being offered in one of eight categories: Ulua (over 10 lbs.), Papio (10 lbs. & under), Oio, Moi, other ocean fish over 10 lbs., other ocean fish 10 lbs. & under, fresh water and ocean fish (women).
Get your tickets today and try your luck! Even if you don’t catch a fish, come down to the weigh-in with your family. The food booth will be open from 10 a.m. There will be displays and games by Jack Gushiken (Antique Rods & Reels), Jettstream (Custom Rods), Wade Ishikawa of DLNR, Jean Souza of The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary-NOAA and more.
