The Kaua’i Soccer Association heads to its final weekend of league play this Saturday, and the playoff outlook is nearly set in stone for the following week.
But not in some divisions.
For the Girls Under-10, Under-12, and Under-14 divisions, the last playoff spot is still up for grabs. The top four teams of each division will head to playoffs (#1 vs. #4, #2 vs. #3 format), and in the three girls brackets, this Saturday will decide which team will nab the fourth spot.
Chicks who Rip have a lock on the Girls 10-Under with 25 points, followed by the Kolohe Girls (16) and the Westside Girls (15). But the fourth spot is still unclear: If the Lihue Lightning (11) loses, the ESG Po’okela (9) can notch a playoff spot with a win this weekend.
It’s a similar situation for the Girls-Under 12. The Blue Dolphins (9-0, 27 points), who have dominated the league to such a degree that some of its girls play in older age groups, are a playoff lock along with KSC Na Anela (17) and the Shooting Stars (13), but High Maintenance (11) and the Eastside Girls U-12 (10) face must-win situations on Saturday for the last spot.
The Eastside Girls U14 (20), the Westside Girls U14 (19) and the Lihue Maniacs (16) are in the Under 14 division playoffs, but whether the fourth seed will be maintained by the KSC Ohana Girls (10) or stolen by the Blue Dolphins Too (9), no one yet knows. We’ll have to wait until Saturday to find out.
In the rest of the divisions, the playoff picture seems to be in place, although their may be some shifting from within.
In Boys Under-8, the Kalaheo Sharks need to beat the Lihue Cougars to insure they get the first seed spot. Since there are only three teams in the division, the first seed gets an automatic bid to the championship game. The Hanalei Titans are currently in second with a 6-3-0 record and 19 points.
The same is true for Motiv-8 in the Under-12 division. They have to top the Riptide to get a championship bid. Go Hard is in second with 21 points.
In Boys Under-10 playoff outlook, the Hanalei Titans U10 (25) are in first; Westside United (17) is in second; Motiv-8 U10 is in third (16) and the Lihue Alii are in fourth (14), although two and three may shift this weekend.
In Boys Under 14, everyone goes, but the seedings might change on Saturday since the team records are so close: Sassone Toppo (14), Da Real Deal (12), Kalaheo Tsunami (12), Hanalei Soccer Club (10).
In Boys Under 16, the playoffs are in place The Southside Lions (21) have the top spot; KSC Jets (20) are number two; the Machismos (9) are in third; the Lihue Boyz (5) are in fourth.
Back to girls.
In the Girls Under 8 division, there are only two teams, hence there will only be one championship showdown: betweent he KSC Sassy Girls (27) and the Kalaheo Wahines (0).
And in the Girls Under-18, everything is set in stone: Eastside Girls U18 (23) have the top spot; Southside Soccer is number two (17); Koloa Girls are number three; and the Waimea Ladybugs (5) have the fourth spot (5). Again, three and four may change.
This Saturdays games will be played at Waimea Canyon Park and Hanapepe Soccer Field.
