The Red Raiders took every match in singles and doubles competition over the Waimea Menehunes Saturday at the Ala Lani Spa and Tennis Courts.
For the girls, Kareen Konishi, the Red Raiders’ #1 ace in singles, defeated Menehune Karen Sison 6-2, 6-0. In the two’s, Tiana-Lum-Tucker topped Jennifer Tambio 6-0, 6-1.
Kaua’i’s #1 doubles combo of Rena Kido and Alex Sirois defeated Menehunes Taryn Honman and Tracie Hayashi 6-1, 6-1. In the twos, Red Raiders Hokulani Jordan and Jennifer Kawaguchi defeated Sara Nonaka and Jenny Monta 6-3, 6-2. And in three’s, Shannon Bullock and Kim Kido defeated Waimea’s Ashley Shimono and Amanda Gatioan 6-0, 6-1.
For the boys, Kaua’i’s Jordan Kukino used a sharp serve to down the Menehune’s first seated single Cyrus Tumbaga 6-3, 6-0, and in the two’s, Ronald Hosaka downed Waimea’s Jeff Kakuda 6-2, 6-1.
The first doubles combo of Chad Naganuma and Stephen McClaren beat Waimea’s Jerrick Fabro and Steven Fountain 6-1, 6-3; Raiders Joshua Miyamoto and Kurt Teichman beat Scott Rivera and Jerek Barcelona 6-1, 6-3, and Bryce Hosaka and Ross Brandeburg defeated Daniel Nishikawa and David Honman 6-2, 6-0.
