The team who has yet to lose a game in the AJA Baseball league drove in 15 runs on 17 hits to rip Kapa’a 15-5 at Hanapepe Baseball Stadium last week.
Hanapepe improves to a perfect 5-0; Kapa’a falls to 0-3-2.
Although Kalaheo ace Kaina McCallum notched the first four wins of the season, pitcher Liko Pereira pitched six innings, giving up five runs on five hits to pick up the win. McCallum got the save in the seventh with three straight K’s.
The Kalaheo batters were led by Troy Kaneshiro, who ripped a double and two singles, scored four runs and drove in three runs.
Pereira clubbed a double and two singles, drove in three runs and crossed home plate four times.
Kaino Santos notched three hits, Casey Oketani recorded three RBI’s on three hits and Kaina McCallum and Kyle Higashi paired hits to round out the Kalaheo fire power.
In game two on Sunday, Hanapepe beat Lihue 11-6 to record its third win of the AJA season.
Hanapepe scored its first two runs in the opening inning and punched four runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead before Lihue had a chance to rally.
Lihue put in four runs in the fourth, but Hanapepe ace Wendall Nonaka bore down on Lihue, allowed only two more runs and eventually gave his team the cushion to go the distance.
Reliever Kelly Robinson replaced Nonaka in the final two innings and didn’t give up a single run.
Hanapepe’s Levi Maeda scored five runs on three hits; Vince Nitta slugged three hits and crossed home plate three times; Nonaka scored two runs on two singles; and Derrick Lincoln notched two RBI’s on two hits.
For Lihue, Mikey Cardinez singled twice and smacked two RBI’s; Ahren Kaneshiro, Scott Ebisu, Barry Kawamura, and Kevin Marcado each got basehits and scored one run apeice to round out the scoring.
