The 2002 Local Motion State Swimming Championships will be held Friday and Saturday at the Kailua-Kona Aquatic Complex, and seven Kauaians will be hitting the pools to represent the KIF in individual events.
Jack Flores sits atop the bunch with a seven-seed (24 swimmers per event) in the 100-yard breastroke. Jeremy Albano is seated 15th in the same event. Flores also sits in the 20th seat in the 200-IM.
Parker Fletcher sits at 14 in the 500-free – he has the 17th seat in the 200-free.
Swimmer of the year Kelii Kaaihue nabbed the 14-spot in the 100-yard free, with Kaina Makua at 15 (tied with Kaaihue) and Bo Domingcil at 18.
Makua is 17th in the 50-free, followed by Kaaihue and Domingcil at 18 and 19, respectively.
Katrina Hettinger sits 16th as the only Kauaian in the girls 100-yard breastroke.
In terms of relays, Waimea’s boys 200-Medley has the best chance of making the final eight, seated 9th in the field.
