The official results are in, and it was Kapa’a on top of the KIF tally sheet at the Outrigger Paddling Regatta at Nawiliwili Harbor on Saturday.
Each team to win a race awards its high school two points that gets tallied in a season-long standings sheet. The second place team gets one point; the third gets zero.
Kapa’a is in the lead with 13 points (5 first place finishes, three second, one third), Kaua’i is second with eight points (two firsts, four seconds, two thirds) and Waimea is third with five points (two firsts and one second).
The Kaua’i team took the Junior Varsity girl’s 1/4 mile race with a time of 2:36.59; Kapa’a came in right behind with a 2:37.22.
Kapa’a won both the varsity A team events in the 1/2 mile race. The girls did it in the time of 4:48.22, and the boys in 3:40.50.
Kaua’i topped both Kapa’a and Waimea (in that order) in the Varsity mixed A team event with a 4:14.09 (1/2 mi.).
Waimea took the Junior Varsity boy’s 1/4 mile in 2:09.44.
Kapa’a beat out Kaua’i with a time of 2:19.00 in the Junior Varsity mixed race (co-ed), and the Warriors also took the Varsity mixed (B team) in 4:40.00 (1/2 mi.)
In other B team action, Waimea paddled off with the girls varsity victory in 5:02.47. Kapa’a’s boys B team won in 3:44.40.
