Regina Ventura is the highest-ranking woman in the Kaua’i County Police Department after being promoted to lieutenant.
Ventura, a 21-year-veteran of the department, served most recently as a patrol Sergeant in the Lihu’e district.
She is the first female promoted to lieutenant in the past decade. Currently, there are no other women on force ranked higher than patrol officer.
Ventura was born in Kapa’a and is a graduate of Kapa’a High School. She also attended Kaua’i Community College and a college in California before she joined the police department in July 1980.
Ventura was one of the original officers stationed at the Hanalei substation. She then served in the detective bureau and patrol services.
She is temporarily assigned to the Lihu’e district command post.
