Shreddin’ Kekaha in Nukumoi contest

The Kaua’i/Y.M.C.A.’s second contest of the Nukumoi Surfing Series
kicked off November 18 and 19 at Davodson’s Kekaha.
Kalani Martin took first in the Menehune division, followed by Tyler
Newton, Alex Smith, Bethany Hamilton and Dylan Melamed. Bear Bailey
rounded out the Menehune’s with a sixth place finish.
For the Boys’ division, Kyle Ramey took first, followed by Casey
Satterfield, Chris Eneim, Ke’ale Chung, J.D. Irons, and Tanner
Haytin. (surfers placed in that order)
In Juniors, Gavin Gillette kept his winning ways in tact, winning the
division, followed by Kyle Calloway in second; Ikaika Kam in third,
and Kyle Ramey, Wyatt Tauloman and Stephem Koehne rounding out the
top six.
Hoku Hookano took first in the Men’s divisioin. He was tailed by
Masaijah Lani, Adam Goodnight (3rd), Chris Satterfield (4rth), Sean
McCoy (5th) and Gavin Gillette (6th).
Ashley Fagerstedt won the Girl’s competition. Bethany Hamilton
followed in second;Alana Brennon took third; Alana Blanchard took
fourth; Rachel Parker and Britney Sussman took 5th and 6th.
For the Boy’s Bodyboard competition, Rocky Hoshijo took first,
followed by Cory Mira, David Phillips, Kyle Mira, Jeremy Ferguson and
Calen Hiramoto (surfers placed in that order).
Phillip Pembrook came out on top of the Jr. Body Boarder’s
competition. He was trailed by Ryan Moribe, Sean Allen, Nathan Rubio,
Chris Patricio and Mathew Murray (boarder’s placed in that order).
Jacob Pembrook won the Senior Bodyboarder’s Division, followed by
Kyle Forker, Ryan Moribe, Toby Benzine, and Sean Allen.
Jeremy Ferguson won the Drop Knee. Nathan Rubio placed second in the
division, and David Phillips, Mathew Murray, Cory Mira, and Lopaka
Michael rounded out the competition.
